Look within yourself

I look at myself, I look through myself, I understand "me" clearly.
I look into my physical self to find my human nature until I thoroughly understand it. Then I look deeper into my spiritual self, to find my transcendental nature, until I understand this too.

Once I understand myself, I understood others and everything else. This is the way of Dhamma. It sounds strange but it is true and it is profound.

Try to understand ourselves truly, and we will understand everything and everyone else clearly, because this world is about us. Look inside us and we will see the world clearly.

But the ways of the world are not like this--we tend to look at others and try to understand them instead of ourselves. When we fail to understand them we get frustrated. By looking so hard at others, we forget to look at ourselves. Acting this way will never help us truly understand.

As for me, I look to understand "me" first. Then I will understand others.

The Goose with The Golden Eggs

One day a farmer took a goose back to his house, and the next day he found that the goose he bought laid a golden egg. He was so happy. He waited and waited for the goose to lay him the egg again, and of course the same thing happened every day. Each day the goose laid one golden egg. As the farmer grew greedy,he wanted more than one egg a day. And he thought there must be more golden eggs inside the goose’s body, so he decided to kill the goose and opened its tummy. Unfortunately.He was so sad as there was not even one golden egg inside the goose.

Moral of the story : Greed oft o'er reaches itself.

The Lion and The Goat

The Lion and The Goat

One humid day in the summer, a lion and a goat were dying of thirst. Once they found a puddle, they began fighting for the water. They fought and became really tired. After a battle, they laid down for a rest. And then the lion saw vultures were flying circle around in the sky. “I think we better compromise and share the water or we keep fighting until one loses and becomes their food.” said the lion. The goat agreed with the lion, and at the end they share water to drink.

Moral of the story : Share something better than lose everything.

The Oak and The Reeds

The Oak and The Reeds 

By the riverbank, there were a very large oak stood near some reeds. When the wind blew, the reeds bowed low in the wind. The oak said "You are so weak, my friend. Only the light breeze, you couldn't even stand up." " Unlike, I'm not scared of anything. I stand upright when the wind blows" the oak continued. 
On the night, the great storm came and the oak fought against the storm. Afttrr all his effort, he still could not stand against the wind. Finally, the oak fell but the reeds were survived.

Moral of the story : It is better to be bend than to be broken.

The Shepherd Boy

The Shepherd Boy

There was once a young shepherd boy who repeatedly lied the other to amuse himself. One day he wanted to have fun so he called out "Wolf Wolf, help me!" The villagers came out to help him, but was no wolf, The boy laughed at them happily. 

But stortly after this, the wolf truly appeared and attacked his sheep. The shepherd boy cried out of help louder than before, but this time nobody came to help him. And finally, the wolf ate up his and then slipped away in the forest.

Moral of the story : A liar's truth is seldom believed.

The Man and the Wooden God

The Man and the Wooden God

In The old days, men used to worship stocks and stones and idols, and prayed to them to give them luck.

It happened that, a man had often prayed to a wooden idol he received from his father, but his luck never seemed to change.. He prayed and he prayed, but still he remained as unlucky as ever. One day in the greatest rage. He went to the Wooden God, and with one blow swept it down from its pedestal. The idol broke in two, and what did he see? An immense number of coins flying all over the place.

The Hare and The Tortoise

Once in the forest, there was a hare who boasted of himself being the fastest runner than anyone else. He laughed at a tortoise when he saw that the tortoise walked very slow. The tortoise was angry to hear that, so he challenged the hare to run the race. 
The hare started running very fast and led the tortoise out very far. The hare stopped for a nap in the middle of the race because he was confident that the tortoise could not follow him. The tortoise kept walking and walking all the way through the end. When the hare woke up, he ran quickly to the finish line but it was too late. The tortoise was already there as the winner.

Moral of the story : Slow and steady wins the race.
